February 19, 2012

Dad thanks for the email!

Im going to send this to you, go grab lunch, and come back to upload more pictures! Thats crazy to hear about Neil Chieg and his baptism. I wish I could have been there. How are they doing? I want to meet Deuce Lutui, haha.

Turns out... I'm not transferred. It means I'm doing 7 1/2 months here in Paracale. I'm so excited because I love the members, but I also am tired of the same thing everyday, I think a change in a new area would have been awesome. Oh well, 6 more weeks.

We got a new branch president in our branch. The old branch president is a returned missionary of one year and is in school and working full time. Our new branch president is from Daet and lives there!! He's on assignment from the stake because they need priesthood there. So our new branch president is from Daet, which means he rides his motor scooter/cycle here more than once a week for church things. He is so nice. He is a police officer here in the Daet / Talisay / Labo area. He came up to work with us on Saturday and all of our lessons were so awesome. He was able to talk to the less actives that needed help and tell them that he is always there to help.

There is this one less active in our branch. She is less active, and we've seen her at the Catholic church before. She lives far away from everyone we teach but we always go and teach her. Her husband died a couple years ago and she works really hard to make money for the family and the kids to go to school; she makes hollow bricks, sells BBQ, owns a tindahan (grocery store), etc. My first ever lesson in the Philippines was to her, and she has NEVER been to church since I've been here. Well, she came to church yesterday! I was so pumped that she was there. I think she was touched because I offered her my glasses. You know those old Polo glasses that I always wore before I left? I offered her those, and they didn't work for her so I'll buy her a pair here. She said she can't read her scriptures because of her eyes, and I figured if she had glasses, she wouldn't have excuses. She came to church and stayed for the block, which was way cool.

As for the FHE, it all went really good, and fun. I spent about 1000P ($24) on food, but everyone had such a good time, and was so thankful. The tatay (father) caught a bunch of fish when he went fishing earlier that day, so we ate all of the fish, and of course had rice. I had so much rice yesterday, I thought I was going to die. I went crazy with the deserts! These people would never be able to just afford these things so they were all super grateful. I gave Sister Tess money to make Mango Graham and whatever she wanted. I love the mango graham. It is graham crackers layered with mango slices condensed cream milk and Nestle cream. It probably doesnt sound all that good to you but I haven't had a real desert in months. Sister Tess made potato salad, a desert here....There was pineapple in it, and the mayo was sweet. I can't wait to come home to real food haha

I was doing pushups the other morning (by the way I'm up to 73 pushups in a row), and I felt an itch in between my toes. It was in between 2 toes, so I just itched it, thinking it was an itch. It itched again, and again for a while, and I was wondering why it was so itchy... So I went to the bathroom, and afterwards, poured some of our shower water on my feet to see if that would help. All of a sudden, this little red worm slips out from between my toes!!! I picked it up and put it on a Joseph Smith pamphlet. It was still alive and full of blood! It was a tiny little worm trying to get into my toe. I was bleeding a little bit from my toe! It was so crazy haha! Also, later that night I felt something in my hair while we were in a lesson. I touched my head and felt something crawling around! I picked it out and killed it without freaking out. Ya I know, Im getting good at this bug thing lol.

Also yesterday, while studying, I couldn't focus at all! I kept thinking how bad I want a Taco Bell bean burrito with green sauce instead of red. I could kill, but I won't. I miss Mexican food so much. haha

Hello! I love you all too.

This week has gone by pretty good. We weren't able to teach a lot which bummed me out because it really makes the days here go slower. This coming week is the last week of transfers! Its gone by sooo fast. Elder Balasta has been a good companion, and I will miss him like my other companions. The beginning of this next transfer marks 6 months of me being out in the Philippines, which is 6 months for one area! Its so crazy how fast this is going, I'm really excited to go and see the mission. Im a little nervous because everywhere else in the mission speaks Bicol. Ive had all of my companions teach me some Bicol and its definitely not Tagalog haha.

This week I was reading in Alma, chapter 31 just for kicks, I had time to kill before we left for our District meeting, and it just clicked with me "hey this book is so true." I had never really had that moment before, but I was impressed with it. It was really awesome, after that I couldn't stop reading, it was so easy to focus on the book and the message because normally I get so distracted. I read until chapter 35, before we left for our meeting, then I kept reading when I got back. It was way neat.

Also this story happened a while ago, I don't know if I wrote you about it but we were about to teach a lesson to Joyce when she became a new member. She had already been a member for a couple months. We were talking to Ria Ann before the lesson started, then I noticed Joyce talking to her friend, on the other side of the room (6 feet away), laying down with her friend looking at a magazine. I asked Ria Ann to be quiet for a second so I could hear them. They were looking through the temple edition of the Liahona, and Joyce kept telling her friend, "this is God's house." It made me think that if my mission was to end right then that it would all be so worth it.

This past week, Elder Balasta and I have been doing language study together, something he didn't do before. He said he wants to learn English so that's what we've been doing. He is wanting to pray in English and talk to President in English. He wants me to be President Bliesner so that we can practice his interviews hahahahaha. Its so fun and I love doing it, I am able to translate for him what he wants, then we practice it.

We tried fishing again today, no fish... again. Oh well. When I get back I want to go fish up north for a couple of days and do NOTHING but eat, sleep, and fish.

We are having a FHE on Saturday with some less actives. I will be buying the food. I really want to do it for the people here. We will have some less active members there and everything. It will probably cost 800P. I will withdraw some more personal money next week. How much is in my account to withdraw, I wont withdraw all, just some. Thanks.

I was laying down today after I worked out (I did 200 pushups) and I was thinking about after my mission. I really miss exercising!!! And all of that stuff! When I come home I want to use some of that school money and become a certified personal trainer! I miss it so much, if I had a passion or talent, its probably that!

I will be that and a part time CNA to pay for my schooling, I don't know which yet but I do know that I suck at math and Anyways I'm not trunky or anything and am sooo excited to be on my mission, but it was nice to think about it for a while this morning.

Anyways love you

Mom...seriously Im on the other side of the world and I KNOW that you cried/or are currently crying.

What's up?

This week has been pretty good, crazy, but good. We had Zone training on Tuesday. After that, Elder Balasta had a dentist appointment

This week we have been working really hard and taught a lot of lessons, of course to mostly less actives. But the thing was we had only a couple at church!! I was way bummed, we worked real hard but not a lot of people :( I also told Elder Balasta that I really wanted to have companionship study, because I told him I really need it to get ready for our lessons that day. SO boo-ya, we have had it one time baby! That makes for a total of 2 times in the past transfer and a half. Elder Smith and I never missed a day.

I've been keeping up with my studies. Its way hard to stay focused when it is so hot, or we have a brown out, so sometimes I have to study in just my undies lol. This week Elder Balasta and I went tracting too! We've never tracted together, and I've only done it one other time. It was fun. I led the tracting and we taught 2 lessons and have 2 new investigators from tracting.

There is this boy who's Nanay (mom) we tracted into who has a large kidney stone. He looked like he hadn't eaten in forever. We aren't allowed to give out money, and I didn't have food on me to give him, so I gave him an angry birds ring I got at Christmas from another missionary. He really liked it. For some reason Angry birds is insanely popular here. If you are dressing nice, you wear angry birds. If you want to be cool, or looked at like a cool person, you were angry birds. For members who can't afford nice Sunday clothes....Angry birds baby lol. If you want anything angry birds at all let a brotha know.

I don't know what else to talk about. I stubbed my toe pretty good yesterday and it was bleeding for a while. We cleaned our bathroom the other day, which was crazy. I killed a cockroach. Elder made chicken curry for lunch yesterday.

Yes I received the package from the Tooles! Ive been busy, I got the package during transfers and was to busy to write a thank you letter, Ill write one tonight.

Pray for me to stay focused that's the hardest ADD!

Love Me
